The adult Chinese Alligator is about 2 meters long, smaller than many other alligators in the world. It digs caves on the banks of rivers, lakes and ponds as its living place. Being ferocious, it feeds on mice, birds, amphibian reptiles and fish. The Chinese Alligator is a cold-blooded animal and becomes active only when the temperature is above 25 Celsius Degrees. If the temperature of the surrounding environment is low, it lies on riverbanks and enjoys the sunshine with its big mouth open. The Chinese Alligator hibernates in winter. The Chinese Alligator is very timid and quickly escapes into water when alerted; it seldom attacks and hurts human beings.
