Chinese Copper Pheasants are 150cm long and live in places 2,000-4,000 meters above sea level, being able to endure cold. They often move among the bushes of rocky areas and bamboo forests. They live alone or in pairs. A male and many females can also live together. They live in groups in winter and excel in running. They eat sprouts seeds and insects, but bamboo shoots are their favorite food. The retries are famed for their bright plumages.
They receive second grade national protection.
