
The body length of Chinese Water Deer is 91-103cm, with 6-7cm tail; weight ranges from 14 to 17kg. The males' upper canines are very sharp. They live on the banks of rivers, lakes, reed marshes and grassy lands. Moving quickly alone or in pairs, they like water and can swim. Reeds and coarse grass are their favorite food and their breeding skills are the best among deer. The normal lifespan is 10-12 years.
They receive second grade national protection.
