Distribution: Qinling Mountain Range in Shaanxi Province
The body length of the Takin is 170-220cm, with a 10-15cm tail. Weighing 300-600kg, they live gregariously in the mixed forests of broad-leaf trees and conifers or coniferous forests on mountains at an altitude of 2,200-2,800 meters. Twigs, sprouts, barks, bamboo leaves and grass are their main food, and they like to lick salt. The normal lifespan is 15-20 years.
Native to China, the Takins receive first grade national protection.
