Distribution: lakes and coastal areas to the south of China's Shandong Province, broad expanses of water in Europe, Asia and Africa.
The Spot-billed Pelicans are 140cm long. They fly around coastal areas, rivers and lakes in groups. They also excel in swimming. When fishing, they form a line or half a circle in the water and then drive fish from deep water into shallow sand.
They receive second grade national protection in China.
